Prof. Dr. med. Jochen Cremer is Director of the Clinic for Cardiovascular Surgery at the Schleswig-Holstein University Hospital, Campus Kiel.
Following his medical education at the Rhenish-Westphalian Technical University in Aachen and his doctorate 1986 and assistant professor in 1995 he was appointed to the Chair of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel in 1998 and thus became professor. The clinic is offering the complete spectrum in adult cardiac surgery, congenital heart surgery, thoracic organ transplantation (heart und lung transplantation), cardiac intensive care medicine and predominantly arterial vascular surgery (inclusive interventional procedures). Following his election to the board of the German Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in 1995, he became its secretary in 1999.
His personal preferred surgical areas are in the fields of complex coronary surgery, minimally invasive operation techniques, thoracic aneurysm surgery and thoracic organ transplantation.
In 1998 Prof. Cremer was awarded the Rudolf Schön Prize of the Society of Friends of the Medical University of Hanover, and in 1995 he received the Ernst Derra Prize of the German Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
