Rolf Mathies is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Earlybird.

Rolf has 18 years of investment experience as well as deal making experience. He has a strong entrepreneurial and management background, particularly in helping companies manage their rapid growth and ramp up of their businesses. He was a board member of Alantos Pharmaceuticals AG (Heidelberg/Boston) which was sold to Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ: AMGN) and was initial Chairman of the Board of element5 AG which was sold to Digital River Inc. [NASDAQ:DRIV]. Rolf currently represents Earlybird's interests at Amaxa AG (Cologne), Hemoteq AG (Aachen), Sidec Technologies AB (Stockholm) and Wilex AG (Munich), (Prime Standard Frankfurt Exchange: WL6).

As Co-Founder and Managing Director of ConAction AG, a management holding company involved in the wholesale and publishing business, Rolf gained strong management and operational experience.

Previously, he worked for the leading strategy consultancy, Bain & Company, where he focused on M & A strategy. Rolf also initiated and implemented the acquisition of LIBRI, Germany's leading book wholesaler, for Bain Capital.

He holds a Dipl.-Kfm. degree (MBA equivalent) specializing in information science from the University of Hamburg.
