RWE invests in Earlybird portfolio company Wearix Software

Munich, September 10th 2001. RWE Venture Capital Funds GmbH, a subsidiary of RWE AG, Essen has acquired a stake as a strategic investor in Wearix Software GmbH in August of this year. Decisive for the seven-figure corporate venture investment are the attractive prospects chances expected for the “mobile solutions” market now and in the future.

The strategic investment in Wearix underlines the increasing significance placed on the topic, mobile business processes, within the conglomerate in the future. RWE has considerable know-how available in the core areas of service, maintenance and sales that can become even more effective through the implementation of mobile solutions.
For fund manager Dr. Ulrich Gleissner, Managing Partner of RWE Dynamics, the investment is thus doubly worthwhile: “On the one hand with Wearix, we have found a promising company that is already ideally equipped for a mobile future with its products and services, and on the other hand there are many positive synergy effects resulting from the collaboration - not the least of which is the mobilization of business processes inside the RWE group”.

With the stake in Wearix, RWE Dynamics invests in an innovative and rapidly growing enterprise that promises sustainable long-term growth. The acceptance and use of mobile devices are growing rapidly in the business environment. With its standard software, the “Mobile Application Broker”, (MAB), Wearix already is today equal to the special demands placed on mobile solutions in the professional environment. Wearix can integrate the most diverse and mobile devices within all existing networks, system environments and platforms; it can optimize processes in the enterprise, and thus achieve significant cost and service advantages.

Additional Earlybird investment

The outstanding corporate development over the last year has also motivated the existing investor, Earlybird Venture Capital, to make a new financial commitment. According to Dr. Hendrik Brandis, partner at Earlybird: “Our experiences with Wearix, whether with the company’s products, or with the outstanding management team, demonstrate that we are betting on the right horse. Wearix successfully maintained its position in a fiercely competitive market and we have every reason to support our conviction that this positive development will also continue in the future.

With RWE Dynamics as strategic investor as well as Earlybird as a proven partner Wearix Software GmbH is ideally positioned for successful development and further growth in the years to come. Wearix is moving closer with these partners to its ambitious goal of permanently establishing the “Mobile Application Broker” as the standard in the mobile business world.
